The game received mostly positive reviews, but for unknown reasons, Sony chose to not make any more games in the series, perhaps due to underwhelming sales. The last game in the Twisted Metal series was also a reboot, released in 2012 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. There’s been no official announcement and no real talk from the studio on whether this report is true. It was early last year that VGC reported that Firesprite Studio had taken over development on a Twisted Metal reboot, but since that report, we’ve not heard anything about the game. The same job listing also describes the game, saying that it’ll feature a ‘blending genre-transcending gameplay mechanics around vehicular and on foot combat,’ heavily fuelling the idea that this could indeed be Twisted Metal. The job listing also seems to hint heavily at PSVR 2 compatibility and a day-one PC launch, with the job listing stating that ‘experience developing gameplay for VR would be useful’ and ‘knowledge of a range of game services such as Steam and PSN back ends’ is important.
